We always try to save a natural tooth first. When a tooth is too broken, too loose or too infected to repair, or a wisdom tooth is causing pain and swelling, removing it is the healthiest choice.
Dr. Swapnil Sodhiya is certified in Oral Surgery and performs simple extractions and wisdom tooth removal at our clinic on JK Road, Bhopal, with careful numbing and clear aftercare instructions.
When an extraction may be needed
- A tooth broken below the gum line that cannot be restored
- Severe gum disease that has made a tooth very loose
- A wisdom tooth that is partly erupted, impacted or repeatedly swollen
- Crowding before orthodontic treatment
- An infected tooth where root canal treatment is not possible
What to expect
- Examination and X-ray to see the tooth, its roots and nearby nerves.
- Local anaesthesia to numb the area completely.
- The tooth is gently loosened and removed. Impacted wisdom teeth may need a minor surgical procedure.
- Gauze is placed to control bleeding and stitches are added if required.
- You receive written aftercare instructions and, if needed, medicines.
Aftercare
Bite on the gauze as advised, avoid spitting, smoking and hot food for the first day, and eat soft food. Swelling usually reduces within a few days. Contact us on WhatsApp if anything feels unusual.
Tooth Extraction & Wisdom Teeth: frequently asked questions
Does wisdom tooth removal hurt?
The area is numbed before the procedure, so you should not feel pain while it is done. Some soreness and swelling afterwards is normal and is managed with the medicines and advice we give you.
Should all wisdom teeth be removed?
No. Wisdom teeth that are healthy, fully erupted and easy to clean can stay. Removal is advised when they cause pain, infection, decay or damage to nearby teeth.
How do I replace an extracted tooth?
Options include a dental implant, a bridge or a denture. Dr. Swapnil Sodhiya will discuss what suits your mouth and budget.
